Affordable Large Parcel Prices with CourGo

All our prices already include any applicable surcharges. CourGo’s partner carriers calculate volumetric weight, and some may add charges based on length or girth—but not to worry. When you compare prices with CourGo, everything is included upfront for complete transparency.

If you’re sending a pallet, please ensure you enter the correct pallet dimensions during booking.

Freight Collection Service

Parcelforce and UPS typically operate 7.5-tonne vehicles, allowing them to offer same-day collection in many urban areas, even for larger parcels. For other carriers, such as UPS and FedEx, you’ll need to schedule your booking at least one day in advance so a suitable tail-lift vehicle can be arranged.

Please note: assistance with loading may still be required.

Large Parcel Drop-Off Service

Most couriers won’t accept drop-off parcels over 20kg, but selected Post Offices can take heavier items through the Parcelforce 48 Large service. If you need an even faster handover, you can also drop your parcel directly at the nearest carrier depot.

Guidelines for Shipping Oversized Parcels

If you’re shipping a very bulky item, consider cutting handles into the box to make it easier to lift and move. Avoid using an oversized box—larger boxes tend to weaken through the middle. Instead, choose a strong double- or triple-walled box and fill it completely with cushioning material to support and protect the contents.

Heavy Item Shipping Tips

If your item weighs more than 40kg, we recommend placing it on a pallet. Tip: If you’re sending a pallet overseas, make sure it’s fumigated and heat-treated, as many countries have restrictions on importing untreated wooden items, including pallets.

Pallet delivery

If your items are palletised, they will be transported on a tail-lift vehicle. The driver may not have a pallet truck, so the recipient might need to assist with unloading. If a forklift isn’t available, the pallet can be broken down by removing the shrink wrap for easier handling.

Do not re-use a box

Re-using boxes can compromise the safety and integrity of your parcel. Worn or weakened cardboard may collapse under weight or tear during transit, increasing the risk of damage to your items. Always use a new, sturdy box that fits your contents properly, and reinforce it with quality packing tape. Using a fresh box ensures your shipment is secure, professionally presented, and more likely to arrive in perfect condition.

Secure All Straps Properly

Exposed straps can catch on equipment or other parcels during transit, creating a safety hazard and risking damage to your shipment. Always tuck in or trim any loose straps and ensure they are fully secured before sending. Properly fastened straps keep your parcel stable, prevent accidents, and ensure it reaches its destination intact.

Avoid Overpacking Your Box

Overpacking a box can put excessive pressure on the seams and corners, increasing the risk of tearing or bursting during transit. It can also make the parcel heavier than recommended, causing handling issues and possible delays. Always pack items with enough cushioning and leave a little space for movement, ensuring your shipment stays secure and arrives safely.

Keep Contents Fully Contained

Items protruding from a box can get caught, damaged, or cause injury during handling and transit. Always make sure every item fits completely inside the packaging and is properly cushioned. Keeping all contents contained protects your shipment, prevents accidents, and ensures it arrives in perfect condition
